Interior:
The Contessa 26 sleeps four adults. Up front is a V-berth large enough for two adults with water tanks and stowage below. Aft of the V-berth is a head to starboard and hanging locker to port. Galley is midship with 2-burner gimballed kerosene stove to starboard. A sizable ice box and sink with pressure water are to port. The main cabin areas has 2 settee/quarterberths. Teak & holly sole, with batteries and waste holding tank below. All interior woordwork is oiled teak. Stowage beneath and behind setees. A removable, stowable table can be set up between the setees or outside in the cockpit. Six opening cast aluminum portlights, a large hatch in the V-berth and a smaller hatch above the galley ensure excellent cabin ventilation. Four 12V lamps light the cabin.
Exterior:
Ample side decks and a solid toe rail enhance safety on deck. The cabintop does not feature the usual sliding companionway, eliminating the danger of falling through while handling sails. At the bow are an externally-drained anchor locker and stainless steel pulpit. The cockpit is remarkably generous for a boat of this size, and easily accomodates 6 adults. Aft of the cockpit are a small stern deck surrounded by a stainless steel aft pulpit. The cockpit features two large lazarettes for storage and a 12 gallon fuel tank in a third. The tiller folds out of the way at dock to clear the cockpit.
