Well with the boat market so wild these days, with most owners having traded their boats in on RVs, the key is really having
a safe versatile super little boat that goes anywhere and certainly does not cost an arm and leg for either dockage or storage.
Having wanted a Contessa 26 since JJTaylor showed them to me in '76 I went thru the normal progressive size stages up to
a 48ft ketch and now having had to wait for my Contessa 26 due to a not great marriage partner (I thought 33 years were enuf) and find the sloop to be just the perfect answer in retirement.
Prices seem to have little to do now days with real boat value - I'm rather pleased to say.

The important element is that the base plates fit solidly on the mast, so keep an eye on the rivets & bolts.  Flex of the spreaders into that base plate allows for necessary movement of shrouds and should be ok.

I'm probably losing it but I'll swear I saw a list of all the Contessa 26 owners, hull numbers, etc. yesterday when I was trying to
figure out how to log in.
If so, where is it so I can add my Contessa 26 to it?
Did I imagine it, nope, I remember there were about 10 1976 Contessas on it, as that's what mine is.
Did I wander over to Jeremy's list in the UK? No, because of the Canadian Contessas I was looking to see how many were US
Contessas.
Somewhere in cyberspace....

I remember seeing it, but now I don't seem to be able to find that listing of all the Contessa 26s, owner, hull #, etc.
where is it, anybody out there know??
I would like to add my hull #182 to the list.
