We bought new main for our JR Contessa about 7 years ago, Doyle sails in the BVI, for about $750 --battened.  It has held up beautifully. They research the measurements and then did a physical measurement--the two matched.  I suspect North would be about the same.

New 110 jib, five or so years ago, hank on, was about $580.  Our 135 is at least 15 years old and still perfect.

Just back from a lovely weekend of sailing our JR ('72?) Contessa around the BVI--and as always, we had a visitor to the boat.  A lovely gentleman, Brit, dinghied up smiling.  "Contessa, is it?" Yes.  "Lovely," he said, then "proper boat, that!"  It always makes us feel we made the right choice (not that we don't always think so), but especially as we sit at anchor among much larger, slicker -- but certainly not prettier -- boats.  This time it was a Sunsail flotilla!

Thanks for all the good tips on this forum.

"Scarab" 1972, sail number 281, JR, located in Tortola, British Virgin Islands,i smy Contessa.  (Original name)
Invoiced in 1972 to Mr. M. Steven.  Scarab was sailed here about 5 years ago from Antigua (don't know how or when she got there), and we bought her in Tortola in 1997.  She sails often in these waters.
