Mounting an algae filter

Dear people

I have a Lister Petter engine which gets it´s cooling water directly from the surface water, without any algae filter installed. I would like to get in touch with people who can tell me how to install such a filter. I have not much space left in the engine room, so I probably need another place to get it fixed.
