Topic: Where to find HIN on a '74

Hi all,

So glad to see there's a strong support system for Contessa owners, especially since we just bought one! The title lists the HIN starting with CFN which is a classification for homebuilt boats, which this doesn't appear to be. This leads me to believe that one of the PO's just couldn't find the HIN. They're normally located somewhere on the transom but I couldn't find one there. Any suggestions?

I'm sure we'll be picking your collective brains a lot over the next months. Thanks!

You don't see hull numbers on JJT boats until 1975-76 somewhere.  To get an idea of what year your boat is you can use the sail number and see where it fits in the registry.....

Re: Where to find HIN on a '74

Mine is a 74 and registered , so it had to have a hin on import to the US. It was put on the starboard side of the transom, but not the ones JJT used on later models, it was hard to find the manufacturer for insurance purposes, but we got it done. Don't know if this helps.
