Topic: Anchors

Anybody used the Delta plow extensively.I bought a 22lb as my bower and the 7.5K bruce is now second banana.I am not a fan of the bruce. What about some of the C.Q.R. knock offs. The Hiscocks stated that 35 pounds was the minium usefull size for a plow.I have a Northhill as a kedge, good if you can find one and it will bite where a bruce won't,however it is liable to foul.Whats working for you.

Re: Anchors

I have a 22lb Bruce, 22lb CQR and a rather small Danforth of unknown mass on the Alberg. Of course, I haven't done any major anchoring yet.

Re: Anchors

We have a 22lb Bruce and a 22lb CQR. The bruce sits on the roller, the CQR in the anchor locker. Both are on 30' of chain and 200' of line rode. A smaller danforth lives in a stern locker.

I've yet to do much more than experiment with any of them, but I suspect the Bruce and CQR will both perform adequately on Lake Ontario.
