Topic: Boom vang connection

On my 73 Contessa, I have not installed the boom vang. Not sure which connection is required on boom to fit key hole type plate on underside of boom, to fit to block. One marine outfitter has suggested fitting boom with a  boom bail and attaching schackle. I would prefer something with a more rigid connection.

I am posting this question again in hopes that someone has same set up as my 73, for boom bang connection to boom. It is similar to "key hole" arrangement on plate attached to underside of boom. Unable to find fitting that would attach block to boom.

I have the same setup on the 1975 but I don 't have any picture right now. Will come back in May with pictures. It looks like a large rivet : the head goes in the key hole and the lower end is attached to a steel wire.
