Topic: Exhaust - Height above water

Everyones exhaust should be above the water at rest, but i was wondering

As you boat moves thru the water, the faster it goes the higher the water rises behind the stern above the static level at rest.

When under way at what engine speed if any does your exhaust outlet sink below the water level.

If you exhaust level does not sink below the water at full motoring speed could you give me the distance from under the stern dress wood to you exhaust outlet.

Thanks,
The next time out i'll measure mine and post it.

Re: Exhaust - Height above water

My exhaust outlet may get close the water line, but inside the boat the tube goes up to just under the rail before going back down and exiting. So it would be hard for the water to flow back to the engine. I also have a water lock box to prevent back flow.
