Topic: Sail Weight
I'm idly shopping for a new working jib and maybe a storm jib. I come across various sails that have the right dimensions but I don't know what the appropriate weights are for the different CO26 sails. Any advice?

The sail plan that came with my boat calls for 5 oz for those.
My 130% and working 80% are both 6.5 oz while my storm jibe is 8oz. I got my from Scotts sails, you can find them on the internet. jklee
8 oz sound good for the storm jib, i won't go lower then that personnally.
Because when you need it, it's because it's nasty ... so you have enough wind to push that heavy sail and you don't want it to ript on that time
For working jib, It depend mostly where you sail. If you are always in a area with light wind ... in the 5 oz should be good, if it's blowing always 15 knots and more ... a 6 or 7 oz will be better.
Oups sorry ... double post by bad connection
Excellent. Thanks. I sail Halifax coastal. Winds can best be described as "be prepared".
