Ack, another one selling out for this "standing headroom."

I have the Maybe II blister repair pictures, I'll try to get them up on the site tonight, then I'll put a link on this ad for you.

I was just on that ferry (Horseshoe Bay to Departure Bay) last week, visiting family on the island.

I never lived in Vancouver, but as a child, I lived in Golden, BC, before it became a major ski metropolis.

As for making the west coast rendezvous, if I can, I will, but I will be very honest and say I doubt I'll be able to make it.

Interestingly Shannon, in terms of "lucking out"...

#322 seems to have been bought by a couple in 1984, sailed for the 1985 season, and then not sailed again till about 2000, when it was bought by its second owner, who sailed it for a couple years before selling it to us.

Shannon, what are you using to caulk your chainplates?

Jeeze Shannon. That sounds like Horseshoe Bay!

If it doesn't go for a song, someone's getting railroaded. Those pictures look yeesh to say the least. On the other hand, a patient person could turn Shilo into a real prize if she went for little.

Thanks John!

I want to do a more in-depth "What is a Contessa 26" but for now I am simply adding content from the old Contessa Corner.

Oh, I have a million million ideas!

As soon as Shannon has some details on the West Coast Rendezvous, we'll get it right on the front page of this site, and see if we can't get even more participation!

Jose, I understand. The sail up Lake Erie can be gruelling, and having to do the canal twice (there and back) isn't cheap.

Is there any interest in having a Contessa Rendezvous somewhere on Lake Ontario this summer? The cruising season around here is around the corner.

I'm just checking interest at this point.

I've added a "Boat" field to everyone's profiles.

I think the biggest problem is how to suppor the attachment point properly. Adding a bowsprit would require a chainstay below. I'm not sure how one would go about doing that and adding enough support to ensure no damage was done.

The second issue would be the requirement to add running backstays to counteract the tug on the mast from the inner forestay.

There's a homepage for this site now. I'm still working on categorizing and organizing the original Contessa Corner information, which might take me a bit. You'll see stuff appearing and moving around the site for a bit as I figure it all out.

Thanks for your patience!

I would be a little relucant to run my engine in gear out of water too. I'm not sure what sort of lubrication the water would provide, but I am willing to bet it would do a lot of cooling.

The entire content of the Contessa Corner portion of the site will soon be part of this site as well. I am working on getting it into shape, but a short trip has sidelined that till Tuesday or Wednesday.

I am all for suggestions and critique. Please, don't hesitate to get in touch!

After you log in, you can change your password from the automatically generated one that was sent to you via email to one that is more memorably to you by clicking on your profile. There is a link there to change your password.

I have the owners manual for my Bukh 8, but at some point the page that identifies all the parts got wet (damned previous owners!) and the page is mostly illegible. I have a couple scans that were provided by some great people here that I'll post at some point soon.

I'd also be happy to take over operation of the site. I've been a professional web developer for ten years and I've a great deal of experience operating community sites like this one. I currently have such a site operating, and could easily modify it to operate this site as well. It includes a more robust bulletin board system and an integrated gallery, among other things.

But its up to the site owner to decide how and where the site goes. He's put a lot of hard work into it, and I am sure he's anxious to see it in a place where it will remain safe and secure.
