Yeah, what a cool idea. I would buy one just to mess around with. I'm glad someone is doing this.

Yeah... This is pretty stupid, but here it goes...
What does anyone here think about a Contessa 26 doing a trip from the East Coast of the US, through the Carribean, through the Panama Canal, out around Easter Island, then back up to where it was started.
How does that sound? Is it possible? Is the Contessa the best boat for the job? If not, what is?

Bill-
You have just sparked my attention. How much do you think the rest of doing the bottom will cost if I do it myself?

I live on the Cape, and I was wondering if anyone had any info on the owner, who he is, and any info on the boat. BTW, the boat was listed in the registry.
Cheers

Shannon-
I found a Contessa 26 for sale in Newburyport,MA. I live about 1 1/2 to 2 hours from there. It is cheap! $5,500 USD, to be exact. My school gets out for Christmas break this Friday, and I might go up and try to have a look at the boat. Thanks for the replies and advice from all!

Does the mast of a Contessa 26 step on the cabin top or in the cabin?

Re: Contessa Advice (39 replies, posted in General Questions/Comments)
Hi-
I am a teen looking into buying a Contessa 26. I would modify it for offshore sailing, and attempt to get solo offshore mileage in preperation for a Mini Transat and hopeful Vendee Globe race. (Vendee is just a dream; so is the Mini!) Any advice?
Thanks,
Skippa
