Whilst idly strolling round the marina this morning and wondering about the main sheets going port and starboard from the rear of the boom and what a pain it is to get to the bbq on the rail over the rudder I noticed both c&c 27`s and some Niagaras had the same set up with the A pattern but blocks on either side of the coach roof attatched to the mid section of the boom has anybody tried this Phil

Ivan I checked with farryman in germany price is approx 3000 sterling delivered to UK am going to get a shipping cost to Canada-US this w2ould be a much cheaper alternative to redoing engine beds etc etc etc although mine now seems to be running fine and if a new one lasted another thirty years would no doubt see me out ---I am also going to ask Farymann usa what the cost would be landed at their place in south carolina Phil

Hi Paul just today installed the new voltage regulator and fired up for a run out blowing hard 35klms right on the nose threequarters throttle into the wind and a pretty good chop so lots of spray 4.5-5knots on the log did`nt use the gps --- could well be your prop or even bad compression how easy does she fire up might be worth while doing a compression test I do have a copy of both the handbook and workshop manual if you need it let me know Phil

Hi that sludge is the awful algea that gets in the bottom of the tank with all the corn oil they add to diesel it attracts moisture so a steam clean of the tank change the hoses and clean fuel and a good dose of stabilizer will do the job the fuel mixed with moisture turns into that sludge...... just replaced the head gasket on my Faryman gasket cost $50 and a couple of hours work cleaned all the carbon off the head and piston running like a top now ! Hi John well a blown regulator led me to suspect a battery problem because of difficulty starting the engine upon dropping the sails to return to dock I then found the blow coming out of the head gasket just behind the air intake, so not really a rebuild just a repair-- pull the head redo the valves and seats (grind) de- coke then install new gasket and fingers crossed !! --- just awaiting the arrival of the gasket and reg via the mail man so hopefully all back together by next weekend best Phil

Ivan I sailed a lot of Co 32`s out of the joint services sailing in the uk and whilst they are small below compared to a lot of modern boats I did several long trips with a crew of 4 and I suppose not being used to anything else they seemed pretty comfortable- they sail like a dream and are beautiful to look at I never felt unsafe in almost any kind of weather in them including bashing round the bay of Biscay in a storm but for me the 26 is ideal , mooring fees etc etc and although I go aboard a cs 30 (my dock mate) quite often and do love the space dont want to pay the mooring fees !! Hi John on the question of my voltage reg on the farymann I did try and get some new diods (spelling) but could`nt find any so contacted Farymann in the US and the cost is $203.52 it is an italian motorbike part ``Ducati #3445-12-50 the head gasket cost is $46.74 they were happy to send them via US post as opposed to UPS who charge a bandits rate to bring anything over the border so am awaiting the arrival to get the engine back together and get some sailing in before haul out at the end of october;;; Jordan Helms tel 864 627 8143 email is jhelms@farymann.com the link you had is now only for ac generators so were not able to help for the 12volt system I noticed on the Farymann web site they do sell a new 8hp diesel which I imagine is a direct drop in for the old unit no idea on price but must be a big saving on labour verses a yanmar etc engine beds and so on Phil
