plywood may be bad but I have seem some very nice cape dory 25d's that were cored with  balsa whose deck areas are cracking brcause of the swelling of the balsa.  At least we don't have that problem.
Good luck and keep posting. I have creaking issues on my side decks.

The one you did not mention that seems to a good match for the c 26
is the wind pilot pacific light (lite?). It is of the so called superior servo pendulum design. Appears to be a smaller sailomat..  The thing I don't like about all of these designs is the requirement of lines to the tiller in the cockpit.  They are a lot less expensive than the price you mention.

I don't have any personal experience with any of these however.
Maybe we can hear from those who have used one?

I would like to hear from those that have one how well they feel the tillpilot/autohelm works.
Much better to hear from the user than listen to the maker.

Even though my 74 has a traveller worked into the stern pulpit, the old attachment points for the three point mainsheet system are still where they were placed originally.  They look hell for stout to me.
My first boat was rigged that way and even though it is now considered old fashioned, I was too dumb to know better and having used it and now being able to compare to the system I now use I don't think the advantage of the single point with a traveller is all that great.  I think if you get and use a vang you'll be about as well off with the old three point on the end of the boom unless you're trying to be the fastest light air CO on the bay.

My boat came with lazyjacks, even though I replaced the old boom, they came right off, went on the new boom, where they do a wonderful job of catching a reefed sail or a doused sail with very little effort.  No adjustmens to make just a very simple outfit tied to the mast and then on two places on the boom. I have no idea if they were just a custom made deal or store bought.  I suspect custom.  A picture would be worth more than a thousand word technical description, if you want I'll send one.

very cool

Anyone have any experience?  I have a windvane I am still working on
and bought an el cheapo autopilot to use in the interim.  I know absolutely nothing about using one. So, anyone who has used one is someone I would like to hear from.
