Would a Harken 436 with a 2000 lb safe load rating be right for our Contessas?  Also, how do you get your sails modified to fit?

I am still here and would love some response to some questions I have posted! I am a relatively new sailor in Alaska and trying to find out any rollerfurling advice for the Contessa and also, if anyone ever wants to do a boat trade in Kachemak Bay in summer, for a warm weather place in winter! (non-simultaneos)!
Maybe most of us are northern sailors, though, but I would be happy to host anyone who wants to visit here in the summer months~

What about some time on Tiny Dancer in beautiful Kachemak Bay, Homer, Alaska in summer for non-simultaneous use of your Contessa or other, in a warm climate during winter!

anyone have one?  Any recommendations as to what kind and size to get?  Also, can you use your old Genoa for the furling sail?

installed the dodger and bimini, can't fold the bimini under the boom and can't walk around it when up...aargh...is this the way it is supposed to be?  Also, frame is in one piece, to sail, you have to take it off and stash it somewhere, like on the dock is the only place it fits...will have to get back to Genco, who has built several for Contessas.  Any one else have one from them- what is your experience?

Racing is non- existant with the monsoons, thought there is one on labor day.   They were giving this only one in Alaska a 252, I think, but would be good to have the standards posted on here!  Thanks!  Shannon, I noticed on one site that an asymetrical, which I have- called a flasher) is higher handicap than a spinaker, but I passed up the boat with spinaker with just a main and jib!! Who said these aren't racers, eh??

Anyone have an accurate handicap for the Contessa 26?

will do!

After some advice and a sticky mainsheet situation, I changed the block out to a side by side feed and it works much better!

got one through Genco marine, but haven't installed...they are used to working with Contessas.  They dealt with the mainsheet issue, don't have a travelor, though.

Would you believe I came in third???  Crazy.  It was really fun and lasted two days. Since then we came in fourth on the next race.  I love the boat and thank you for the mainsail advice- it will be nice to have it raise easily with just one person.  I will get right on it!

Boy, having a really hard time putting up the mainsail due to slides turning and jamming up.  Have used silicon, sail stuff.  Anyone have this experience and resolution?

I ended up repitching my 12x9 two blade to match better with the newer Yanmar 1gm.  It works great...I get up toward 7 knots when full out, but I only get around 3200 rpm...hope that is ok...I usually cruise at about 25-2700 rpm.

Is there a measurement for  a rollerfurling jib for 26?  You guys recommend 135?  My hank on genny was way too large- i need a sail between that one and the jib, really considering roller furl...which sail companies actually ended up being the best after above discusion?

Could someone let me know quickly (cause I'm racing in first Regatta)  what gear to have the Yanmar in while sailing- reverse or neutral??  thanks so much!
