For those that havn't come across it yet ....
Google - "Yachting TV"
This is a free , online broadcast , about boating in Europe . Go to the "achives" , once you register ...remember it is free , and you will find past episodes under different catagories that are easily downloaded for viewing when convenient .
At this time , the Current Episode is an interview with Jeremy Rodgers and the Contessa 32 Association where he mentions the Contessa 26 and how it was first designed and built , with help from David Sadler . I beleive that this will be of interest to your group here in North America .
Also other episodes about Piloting with Tom Cunliff and another passage on a replica of Spray . Other catagories include Technology , Reviews , RYA , Cruising ie - Arc Ralley . This video was well done as it reminded me of my 2 trips across the pond . Watch both parts as it is  pretty much what it is like , day to day , to cross the Atlantic .
All in all a very good program with pretty sailboats that we only see in European magazines and lots of great scenery . I play these shows on my TV and the picture quality is as good as it gets .
Check it out and enjoy ,
Pogo

I guess that I should have been more specific as there is not much of a chance on fitting one in a Contessa . I've seen these gasoline replacement engines advertised for quite a while and have never read anywhere about how the conversion went and whether the owners were happy with their new power plant / saildrive combination . We read alot about the usual diesel replacements , but not much about other options that may be available . Has anyone heard of any stories regarding the use of these engines in any other types of sailboats . Just out of interest . I'm surprised that none of the sailing magazines have done a review of these units .

Does anyone have any experiences or knowledge regarding the installation of a gasoline Honda saildrive or  Yamaha saildrive . Curious if these are working out to be a reliable , cheap aternative to older diesal and gas engines .

The July / August issue of Good Old Boat has a great article on Bill Nye Scott . The profile talks about the building of Contessa's and Albergs , JJ Taylor etc... . Also Nye boat works rebuilds older sailboats today and they specialize in older Albergs and of course Contessa's . A good read .

Once again I enjoyed reading your trip log for your Atlantic Ocean circumnavigation . I beleive that most Contessa owners bought their sailboat to maybe someday under go such a passage . Owning a Contessa is a great first step for those with a mission or a dream . The affordability of the Contessa allows most people the opportunity to do the same kind of trip that is usually done on larger more expensive craft . I had the opportunity to crew from Tenerife to Sint Marrtin on a 64 Baltic last year , something I always wanted to try . Although I enjoyed the transat very much ( excellent captain and crew ) there is alot to be said about singlehanding a small sailboat across or around the Atlantic . The boat that I was on was awesome, but at times I found that I lost touch with the experience as we had alot of luxuries not found on a small sailboat . I can imagine what it must of been like watching those large Atlantic rollers continually coming up behind you in a sailboat so close to the water . Maybe , someday , others will take the big leap like you did , reading a trip log about somebody that did certainly helps to inspire the rest of us . Thank you for sharing your experience !

A few years ago there was a Canadian detective show on television once a week . I can't remember the name of the show but I do remember the face of the main actor .......was it you Jose Salvador ? If not , you must have a twin .

Oh Well ..... It was the 24th of Dec. and it was really busy in the store .... and coming in from the dark to the bright lights of the bookstore .....and I never had a coffee yet ....and Who the hell puts a flag poll that large on  such a little sailboat ...ha ha . Anyway , how about those nice red sails ...they could be Tanbark ....but with my record of late ...I ain't sayin their Tanbark , I'll just say that they are nice.. red.. sails . Also the sail number is 226 Quixota , a great pic .

Just back from Chapters with the latest issue of BoatWorks , hoping to prove MCo26 wrong ......I got out my magnifying glass and yep ..MCo26 is correct . I will stick my head in the snow for an hour or so ...what was I thinking !

The latest cover of Boatworks magazine has a picture of a Contessa 26 with red sails . It has a stick ? attached to the stern pulpit and looks like it is being used to control something ...does anyone know what it is ?
Season's Greetings

Thank you Jose , I will get back to you with some dates .

Although I have been looking at Contessa sailboats in the past , I have yet to go for a sail on one . If someone in the Toronto or Georgian Bay area would be willing to introduce me to a wee sail on their boat I would be more then happy to go and to return your favour with a sail on my little cat boat which is near Midland . Thank you.

Thank you Ian .  I wasn't sure why some boats had this option and others didn't .

Was the bubble hatch , that you see on some contessa's , a factory option or a modification that some owners did on their own ? Does the bubble open like a hatch or is it fixed ?
Thank you

If someone was interested in purchasing this contessa I would be very interested in delivering , or helping to deliver it to Florida . Approx. 1000nm via the Old Bahama Channel .
