In this move, we need to think about its set up, especially the Contessa 26 boat list that I have put together and that Jose and Shannon have improved with thier spreadsheet format (see the listing on my comments).  This list needs a owner to update and its own place to be viewed by all easily.

I just want to say a Big THANK YOU to admin for starting up this webpage Contessa forum.  We have all benefitted from your initial start up of it.  Do visit us from time to time and give your comments.  May I ask where your contessa 26 sailed off to, for the contessa list.

I am guess this goes for those in US buying from a Canadian.  What about in the US, is it the same?  I am having to learn from my landlocked small town.

I also wanted to say after watching your DVD that I was impressed with the filming of your trip.  I will pass to my old Florida boat club (now that I am in Pennsylvania) about this DVD for their sailing classes and their members.  Hopefully soon I will be able sail offshore for more then one day.

By the way, how did you get the aerial shots of you sailing?  That was a real nice touch to the film.

Thanks again, Chris.

For those of you thinking about the Varuna #324, the following is the message I got from the owner, Steve Thorpe last night.  I am not sure I am up for a auction though I would not mind the boat.
---------
I've never sailed Varuna (although I had two other sailboats that got heavy use), so she hasn't been sailed in more than two years. As a result, the only photos I have are of Tania under sail -- the ones on the website.

Don't have a marine survey yet. I was planning on auctioning the boat in the spring
--------------

By the way, can anyone tell me where "The Registry" went on this forum?  I looked every where.

In a e-mail conversation with another contessa 26 searcher, the subject of paying import taxes on a contessa 26 crossing over the international line (Canada to US or reverse) for a new owner came up.  Does anyone know where one would look on the internet on what these taxes would be for be both Canada and/or US?  This does play into the cost of buying a boat.  Thanks-

Do you have any photos of these molds?  I know the fiberglass verision was or is built in the San Fran Bay once and this version was to get the Folkboat a new lease on life.  There have been moves in the past to being the folkboat back into project in north america.  Now one question to ask is, are these molds the Folkboat or the International Folkboat, the more family pleasure verision.

It does not look like Tania Aebi will be at the Boat Show, as she did not show up on the speaker list on the boat show website.

Have you put the Navik on the boat yet?  Any photos of it going on?  Was it easy to do;-)  There is a possible contessa 26 I am looking at but they took off the Monitor after they bought it and sold it so I would be in the market for a Navik.  I have read everything on it but the drawing or photos are not the best.

When you come up with an answer, please pass it on, as I might be coming on to a possible Contessa 26 in the near future.

The word on the street/Toronto Boat Show is that the Pilgrim Society #268 is sold?  Is this true and if so, where is the new owner going to keep it?  Always ready to update the Contessa 26 list.

Just got news that the Pilgrim Society is still up for sale and looking for a buyer.  Just a rumor I heard then, I guess. 1/17/06

Just a comment on Contessa 26. I got to sail on one in Mobile Bay last spring in  Small Craft warning condition and the boat did just great and I never felt as if the wind was going blow us all over the place.  The owner of this one stated that a Contessa loves these condition (small craft warning). This Contessa was a 1974 (I believe) and it good condition.  This is one reason I am looking for a Contessa 26 myself, though a post-1983.  I agree with the other John that I would like a 3rd reef sail from what conditions I have sailed in the past on a 22 foot in 25+ knot winds.

I have seen this with other Contessa 26.  As past writers have stated, The hull was made one year (ie., 1984)but the rest of boat was not constructed until the following year, thus the year of the boat (ie., 1985).  This shows up in my table, especially in the sail numbers being out of order to the year of the boat, something SMH que me in on when I first started the Contessa 26 listing.

Okay, if everyone has their wish list, I will put in my small one.

1) Post 1983 Contessa 26 in good shape
2) place to dock it, either Lake Erie or Coast of Maine

This is just a small list, so Santa might be able to help me;-)
