1971 (J Rogers) Contessa 26 'Tess' Yanmar 1GM10 located in Connecticut.
$12.500 Email for full listing CO26Tess at gmail.com

SOLD

Tim:
I have not heard of 'Little Minute'.
Obviously, there are very few Rogers CO26 here.
I knew of one out in Nebraska.
Mine is a 71 Rogers (#54) and I sail out of New London, CT.
I bought my Contessa locally about 9 years ago.
She was sailed single-handed across the pond in the '76 Ostar
Let me know if I can address any questions specific to the Rogers.  Jim

Thanks, Adrian.

Certainly a BIG fear.

I would say 60% or more of the time I sail single-handed. The CO26 is perfect for that, no question.
My wife will not overnight on her though.
Even with something roomier I am still not sure she would.

I fear that I will move up, and then regret it.

Worst case, I move back and get a newer Contessa. Mine is a '71 Rogers.
I would like a Shannon 28, but they are hard to find.

I admit that I do not check in as frequently.

Pulled Tess out last weekend. November was better sailing than October.

I have decided to put TESS up for sale soon.  Really time to move to something a bit roomier.

I can see myself coming back to a Contessa at a later point.

Hi All:

There is a silent majority out here.
Silent, but attentive. Even if we aren't checking in as often.

We are too busy watching Tim's work on Equinox. WOW, RB great stuff.

Adrian:

GREAT job that you have been doing with the site.

The spam invasion seems to be daily now.

I was wondering if it is possible to prevent new registrants from posting on the day of their registration.  Could new registrants be required to wait 24 hrs before posting? And might this limit the number of spammers?

Thanks for the hard work.

Jim

I am looking at replacing my engine.

My first choice would be a Yanmar. Any suggestions on sources for either new or rebuilt units?

Thanks

Jim

Rob & LaDonna

Yes, I replaced the cheeks. I did not find the job that difficult and was very pleased with the results.

The old cheeks had been glassed in but cracks developed resulting in delamination.
I ground down the glass and removed the cheeks. I then used the old cheeks as templates for designing the new ones. I used mahogany. After two years now, the cheeks look like new!
I attached a couple of pictures.

Can any one explain when/how the crown insignia became associated with the CO26?
Is it a Taylor vs. a Rogers distinction? I am much more familar with the "CO" insignia.

From what I have seen the "CO" seems more prevalent. Is this true?

Thanks

Jim

She looks most lovely. Congratulations!

Just to add more confusion though, my '71 JC Rogers in CT is also "Tess".
Named by a previous owner. She was known as "LADY ANNE OF ST DONATS" and skippered by David Sutcliffe in the '76 OSTAR.

Tess is federally documented in the US.
Hope this does not present too much difficulty.

I stay within the confines of the Atlantic pond.

Many happy cruises.

The Vire takes a small amount of gear oil for the transmission.
My Vire is maintenance intensive at the start of the season then runs strong. New starter/generator and voltage regulator this year.

I still have the Vire in my '71.  I can think of many descriptive qualities for it. 'Dubious' may best fit for now.  I have gotten very good at removal and installation. Like the days of the old '71 VW bug. Yes, would be willing to exchange for 1GM. No hull #.

John, I am wondering if you are restricting the list to only JJTaylor's and excluding JCRogers built boats? There are a couple of us here in the States.

Are you aware of the '84 Contessa sitting for sale there in the yard of the Essex Shipyard?  She appears to be in excellent form and is a bit overpowered with a 15hp Farymann. Sorry I do not have a contact number. Located across from the Soundings publication office.

After applying new antifouling coat, I have noticed two minute pinhole leaks at the very bottom of the keel.
Any suggestions on method and material for the best repair?
