Hi Ivan,

As much as I love using my Garmin handheld, I still plot on a paper chart using traditional navigation and I check it with both the GPS and an updated paper chart.  Underline updated twice!! ;-)  Try not to rely on one system alone.

Cheers!

P.S. Fifty five more days until splashdown!  Now,....where did I put that "to do" list?

Hello Henrik and Nina!

I'm definitely in with regards to meeting up with you.  I'll be up and down Lake Ontario this summer so just give me your itinerary and I'll meet up with you along with along with, I'm sure, some if not all the Lake Ontario members of the group.  Looking forward to seeing you!

Cheers!

bluehair!

Now that you've re-mentioned it, I do need a hand crank for my K-30.  Do you still have it?  Let me know what else looks good for the taking.

Cheers!

....Just as correction above.  The U.S. equivalent to CYA is actually ASA and not AYA.

I totally agree, Andrew.  During our rendezvous last weekend, I broached the subject of John (seeadler) doing seminars but this pretty much tops that as I can actually go back and read and re-read this particular post to prep for my upcoming trips.  This isn't merely conjecture but actual, proven and survived kind of material and it's from the man himself.  Now, that's what I call gold!  Thanks, seeadler!  On another note, didn't you hint of an upcoming trip of a similar magnitude next year?  Please let us in on the ground floor regarding preparation and let me know if you need any help as I'd be more than happy to assist in your prep.

Sounds like a real party shaping up.  C'mon ladies!  Don't be shy as everybody's welcome to attend.  As this forum promotes, you don't have to be a CO26 owner to attend.  Can't wait for next week.  Gee, had I known that the weather was going to be like this, I would've sailed to the boat show! ;-)

Hey Shannon! Since you saved soooooo much money on your new baby, come join us for a little mirth and merriment at the boat show!!!  If not, I guess pics will have to do!   Cheeers y'all!

José

Hey Shannon!

Glad to have you back in full force.  She's a real gem and you of all people deserved to restore another Contessa to say the least.  I guess 2006's Christmas wish committee sent you some real good karma as we thoroughly missed your input in the forum.  We'll be looking for your blogspot highlighting your journey back and we're collectively happy for you to say the least.  Needless to say, your new year is starting on a very high note.  Enjoy the new ride!

Cheers!!

José

Hey Group!

Happy New Year to All!  I'll definitely be there and unfortunately, I don't have a CO26 burgee for identification purposes.  Wouldn't it help if we posted pictures of each other? Opinions anyone?  In any case, I'm looking forward to seeing everybody who can make it on the 13th.

On behalf of everyone here at CO26, we would like to wish you and your family a Merry Christmas and a very Prosperous New Year Adrian.  Thanks for taking the time to be this amazing site's administrator.  It's the envy of many  boat related forums for its format and excellent design.  Keep up the great work!

Cheers!!

Hey Jim,

That is indeed a shot of Jeremy Rogers helming Rosina but the shot that you see on Nick's website is a slight exaggeration of the actual conditions that existed.  The actual shot which was done by Jo Mooring Aldridge  is in the gallery section of contessa26.net.  I've posted it in our gallery section with a credit to Jo Mooring Aldridge.  No matter how you cut it, it's still a very spectacular shot of the original builder of our esteemed yachts.

Thanks for the Propeller Handbook, bilgeret.  I'm not sure what you mean by "goosing" the throttle.  In any case, the prop walk occurs at the slowest of speeds right from the moment when I shift to reverse from neutral.  Does that mean that I have too much pitch?

seeadler,

Is there a formula for calculating the proper pitch for my two blader? Also how do I measure the pitch of my propeller as it is now?  My Tessa has a wicked prop walk to port when going astearn.  I've made do with lines around cleats before reverse actually kicks in but I'd rather have something like a Gori 3 bladed folding prop but that could cost a few K's.

Yeah, that's more than enough.

Hi Ivan,

It really depends what you're trying to run with the electricty while in your slip.  Figure out your average amperage needs and go from there.  Would you be running a battery charger while cooking with your hybrid electric/alcohol stove(both burners) while at the same time using your disc sander?  If your answer is yes then you probably need a 30 amp line.  If you're like me and only use the power sporadically for specific tasks then 15 amps is more than enough.  Hope this helps.

That's an "I" for me for January 13th as it is for everybody else except for John Lee who'll wait in line for our group for a whole month!  Just kidding John, I'm sure you meant the 13th of January like the rest of us.  Looking forward to seeing everybody.  I'm volunteering to capture the group shot of everyone present at that time.  I think that 2 would be a good time so that we can have a few hours peruse the show, then have a leisurely dinner with everyone.  Any other thoughts?

Hey Adrian, you're alive!  Greetings and salutations to our esteemed administrator.  Keep up the good work!

Count me in as well!  Looking forward to seeing whoever can make it on the 13th.  Just advise us on location and time.  Cheers all!

Hi Again,

That's a pretty funny blogspace you guys have.  I particularly like the shot of the interior of Tess as the PO was moving out.  What was that PO thinking?  What's with the enema bag hanging portside?  Personal bilge pump perhaps? Anyhow, I totally sympathize with the naming process.  I was thinking of changing Tessa's name to perhaps,.... Seacup but she already had the brass plaque inside and I know that changing a vessel's name could be bad luck if not done properly.;-)  Good luck with the renos and please do share updates (photos!!) with us here at the forum.  It's gonna be a hell of a before and after plus all your preparations for Transpac race.

Cheers!

Hi LaDonna & Rob,

So glad that you dropped the "A" from Tessa as mine is officially called.  I am aware of the other Tessa across the pond so that's far enough for me.  Welcome to the forum.  Tess looks great.

José

.....I meant to say CO26 above.
